Who We Are

Purpose Bound is led by a small group of strong believers who love the Lord with all their heart, soul, mind and strength, and who feel called to help others fulfill the Great Commandment and the Great Commission. This group possesses a synergistic mix of education, experience and Christian ministry involvement that includes titles like worship pastor, director of global orphan care, Christian college recruiter and advisor, high school ministry leader, college instructor, and Christian music producer. Formally, we operate as Purpose Bound, Inc., an Arizona-based non-profit organization (501(c)(3) status pending) governed by a slate of three directors who also serve as the organization's officers: Sam Ciatu, David Lee, and Christine Lee.

Sam Ciatu

Sam is a multi-faceted and seasoned business professional experienced in a variety of disciplines stemming from his marketing, law and tax law degrees. Along with his corporate law practice background, he brings to the organization experience in marketing, management, finance, public relations, event management, investor relations,  tax matters, web design, IT, and entrepreneurial start-ups. Most recently, he served as the Executive Director of a semi-private non-profit engaged in global orphan care.

Sam spent 29 years of his professional life in Scottsdale, Arizona, where he was saved and began attending Scottsdale Bible Church. There, he became heavily involved in the high school ministry, served as a children's camp counselor and served in the singles ministry. In 2006, he built a Christian recording studio and indie record label, and was involved in local Christian concert promotion. One of the studio's recording artists was David Lee, and the two formed a lasting friendship based on their shared faith as well as their heart for the Caribbean.

Given up for adoption by his single mother at birth, Sam has always had a special place in his heart for fellow orphans and other impoverished children, particularly those not blessed with a wonderful adoptive family and opportunities like he was. Sam also fell in love with the people of the Caribbean in over a dozen visits there over the years, and has always felt led to serve there in some way. He relocated to Southern California in early 2011 to be near his recently graduated daughter in L.A. and his mother and to pursue a new career direction where his skills and experience could be used for more meaningful purposes. Upon reuniting with the Lees socially, they soon began discussing what would become the shared vision of Purpose Bound.

Sam lives in Laguna Beach, California, and is a member of Saddleback Church, where he has been involved in several ministries. He enjoys spending time with his daughter and his new California friends, as well as fitness and outdoor activities.

David Lee

David is a visionary and born leader who brings to Purpose Bound a strong background in leadership and management, including positions in the higher education field and the worship arts, as well as an undergraduate degree in Management. He currently serves as Pastor of Worship and Creative Arts at Foothills Church in Orange County, California, where he has built, mentors and leads a team of over 40 volunteers. Prior to that, David had a career in leading recruitment efforts and advising students at Hope International University, a Christian college, as well as several prior institutions of higher learning, also serving as a public safety officer at one of them.

David's first formal leadership role began when he graduated from his small town Massachusetts high school in 2000 and immediately joined the United States Marine Corps. In his four years of serving our country, he rose to lead and train others, and visited many nations, including serving in Iraq. It was Christmas Eve 2001 in Okinawa, Japan that changed his life forever. There, many miles from home, he established his relationship with Jesus Christ, and the desire to know and serve Him was brought to life.

Following his honorable discharge in 2004, David embarked upon a three month "classroom at sea" sailing journey in the Caribbean. His leadership skills and overall proficiencies in water-related and outdoor activities led the organization to invite him back as leadership staff, and he spent an additional five months at sea leading various voyages. While in the Caribbean, David earned various sailing certifications and three PADI diving certifications, including Rescue Diver (Open Water and Advance Open Water). Unbeknownst to him at the time, these were the early seeds of the vision that would become Purpose Bound.

In 2005, David relocated to Phoenix to pursue his education, and it was there that he met his wife, Christine. It was during his time in Arizona that he further developed his music skills, meeting Sam Ciatu in the process. After graduation in 2008, he and Christine relocated to Manchester, New Hampshire, where David became involved with the Manchester Christian Church, serving as a worship leader and in other creative roles. A highlight of his time there was a 2008 mission trip to Rwanda, where he taught leadership principles to local church leaders and pastors. In 2010, the Lees relocated to Southern California, where they settled in Rancho Santa Margarita. They have one young daughter, Cora, who was born in May of 2012.

Christine Lee

Christine brings a solid background in higher education to Purpose Bound, including teaching, academic programming and academic advising since 2005. She earned an undergraduate Bachelor of Social Work degree from Arizona State University in 2004, and a graduate Masters in Business Administration degree in 2007. She is a life-long learner herself, and has taken many courses over the years from the schools where she has served. She is currently an Associate Faculty member at a well established University.

Christine was born and raised in Arizona. After meeting her husband, David, in Phoenix, she ventured with him to New Hampshire and now Southern California. She enjoys her young daughter, and she is active in her church and supporting David in his full-time ministry roles.
